Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art - a comic book about comics by Scott McCloud - is one of the most engaging books I've ever read. Seriously, pick it up now! In this tour de force, Scott explains how comics work: how stories unfold, words and pictures unite, and readers fill in the many, many gaps. The result is a lucid, playful and insightful analysis of our visual culture, from ancient Egypt to modern multimedia. A fun and useful read for anyone interested in visual communication, like teachers, presenters and designers.

It's no surprise Scott is a excellent presenter as well. Don't miss his clever and fast-paced presentation at TED Talks.

Well, his book got critical acclaim and comic experts consider it a seminal work. So it was about time, I'd say.

Pfew, very fast talker, Scott McCloud. I am breathless just trying to follow his talk. Great talk and presentation and nice to hear and see the writer of the book. And weren't you surprised to see Scott show up at TED?
